FAQ

DOES THE PAINT CHIP OR CAN THE CÚLTEC HURLEY WEAR DOWN?

The paint can chip and the Cúltec hurley can wear from playing on harsh surfaces such as concrete, tarmac and gravel. Normal wear and tear can be expected through use. Continued use on hard surfaces can lead to a hole developing.

IS THE CÚLTEC HURLEY UNBREAKABLE?

For safety reasons the Cúltec Hurley is not unbreakable. This was one of the main criteria outlined by the GAA. To comply with the directive the Cúltec hurley is designed to break under excessive force in order to protect opponents from risk of serious injury as much as possible. The hurley can break after any length of time once it is subjected to excessive force.

IS THERE A GUARANTEE WITH THE CÚLTEC HURLEY?

Due to the nature of the game of hurling we cannot guarantee the product for any length of time. The Cúltec hurley is consistent and will not break as easily as an average ash hurley. If subjected to excessive force they must break. We can however guarantee that the next Cúltec you purchase will replicate the same high standards of touch, feel, strike and balance that you have become accustomed to.

WHO IS USING CÚLTEC ?

There are a number of club hurler's all around the Country using them. So far the most well-known are Diarmuid Horan (Offaly), Pat Kenny (Wexford – scored 3-3 using a Cúltec on his League Debut for Wexford). Tipperary's Orla O'Dwyer & Kevin Flynn and Ryan O'Dwyer both from Dublin. Ryan was nominated for an All-Star after a brilliant year with Dublin where he played with a Cúltec and nothing else. 2011 was also a big year as it was the first time we had an All-Ireland Senior medal winner when David Herity used his Cúltec for Kilkenny during the All-Ireland final. There are currently a large number of inter county goalkeepers using their Cúltec Hurley in championship action. None of these players are on any retainer from Cúltec to use the hurley, they use it because they believe it gives them an advantage. That advantage is consistency of stroke in all weather conditions and consistency if they need a replacement.
